Photo Frame Shop in Lucknow: How to Choose the Right Frame

EDP Frames, Indira Nagar · Updated September 2026 · 6 min read

Most people in Lucknow buy a photo frame once every few years. So it is normal to walk into a shop, point at something that looks nice, and hope it works. Then the frame reaches home and the picture looks small inside it, or the glass throws a reflection right across the face, or the corners open up after one monsoon.

This guide fixes that. It is the same set of questions we ask every customer who walks into our studio at Ashirwad Plaza, Sector 16, Indira Nagar.

1. Start with the wall, not the frame

Decide where the picture is going before you decide what it goes into. Three things change the answer:

2. Get the size right

A simple rule that works for Indian homes: the framed picture should cover roughly two-thirds the width of the furniture below it. Over a three-seater sofa, that means a large single frame or a group of three.

Where it hangsPhoto size that worksWith mount, finished size
Study table, side table5x7 or 6x8 in8x10 in
Passage, staircase wall8x12 in12x16 in
Bedroom above the bed12x18 in16x24 in
Living room feature wall20x30 in or larger24x36 in or larger
Wedding portrait, main wall24x36 in30x42 in

When in doubt, go one size up. Undersized frames are the single most common mistake we correct.

3. Pick the material honestly

There are three real choices in the Lucknow market, and each is right for a different job.

Synthetic moulding

Light, moisture-proof, comes in dozens of finishes, and the cheapest per foot. Best for gifts, office cabins, bulk orders and anything under 16x20 inches. It will not warp in humidity, which matters here from July to September.

Solid wood

Heavier, deeper, and it ages well. The grain shows. Best for wedding portraits, family galleries and anything you plan to keep for twenty years. Costs more and takes longer to make.

Aluminium and metal profile

Thin, modern, very strong for large sizes. Best for offices, clinics, restaurants and certificate walls where you want the picture to speak, not the frame.

4. Glass is where the money actually goes

Most shops will not raise this. It is the difference between a frame you enjoy and a frame you squint at.

5. Ask about the mount

A mount is the card border between the photo and the frame. It is not decoration. It keeps the photo from touching the glass, which is what causes pictures to stick and discolour over years. It also makes an ordinary photo look considered. Add 2 to 3 inches of mount on a portrait and it immediately reads as premium.

6. Check these five things before you pay

What frames cost in Lucknow

Prices depend on size, moulding and glass, but as a working range for 2026:

TypeTypical range
Small synthetic frame (up to 8x10 in)₹250 – ₹600
Medium frame with mount (12x18 in)₹700 – ₹1,600
Large wooden portrait (24x36 in)₹2,500 – ₹6,000
Wholesale or bulk per piece₹150 – ₹350

Anything quoted far below these ranges usually means thinner moulding, unsealed backing, or no mount.
