Wholesale Photo Frames: A Buyer's Guide for Studios and Resellers
If you run a photography studio, a gift shop, a printing press or a corporate-gifting business, frames are one of the few products where the margin is genuinely good and the customer is already in front of you. The problem is supply: inconsistent finishes, unreliable delivery dates, and breakage in transit.
This is a straight guide to buying frames wholesale in India, and what a good supplier should be doing for you.
What wholesale pricing actually looks like
Wholesale frame pricing is per piece and moves with size, moulding and order quantity. Working ranges for 2026:
| Size | Per piece (25–100 pcs) | Per piece (500+ pcs) |
|---|---|---|
| 5x7 in | ₹150 – ₹190 | Lower, on quote |
| 8x10 in | ₹190 – ₹240 | Lower, on quote |
| 8x12 in | ₹220 – ₹280 | Lower, on quote |
| 12x15 in | ₹280 – ₹350 | Lower, on quote |
A studio reselling an 8x10 frame to a wedding client at ₹400 to ₹600 is working on a healthy margin with zero extra customer acquisition cost. The client is already paying you for photographs.
The seven questions to ask any frame supplier
- What is the minimum order? Anything above 50 pieces for a first order is a supplier protecting himself, not serving you.
- Is the finish consistent batch to batch? Ask for two samples from two different batches. Cheap mouldings shift in shade.
- How is it packed? Corner protectors and individual sleeves, or everything stacked in one carton? This decides your breakage rate.
- Glass or acrylic? For anything going by courier, acrylic is the sane choice.
- Is hanging hardware fitted? Fitting it yourself costs you labour on every piece.
- What is the repeat lead time? First order fast, second order slow, is a common pattern. Ask up front.
- Can they do custom sizes in bulk? Studios almost always need one odd size eventually.
Which sizes to stock first
If you are starting, do not spread across fifteen sizes. Stock three, learn what sells, then widen.
- 8x10 in — the default gifting and certificate size, moves fastest.
- 12x18 in — the standard frame for the parents after a wedding.
- 5x7 in — table frames, cheap to stock, good add-on at the counter.
Where the money gets stuck
Frames are a low-risk product with one trap: inventory. Every frame sitting on your shelf is cash that is not working. Two rules keep it clean.
Rule one: stock only the three sizes above, and take everything else against a confirmed order.
Rule two: reorder when stock hits 30 percent, not zero. It protects you from the one week when the supplier is slow and a client is waiting.
Who buys frames in bulk
- Photography and wedding studios, bundling frames with album packages.
- Gift shops and stationery stores.
- Corporate gifting vendors, especially around Diwali and annual awards.
- Schools and coaching institutes for certificates and honour boards.
- Printing presses offering print-plus-frame as one package.
- Interior designers and home decor retailers.
